Lisa Marie Yoder Boswell was born 1966 in Utica, New York. She
now resides in Wilmington, North Carolina. Lisa has been fascinated with art ever since she was first able to hold a pencil. By the time she reached high school a serious desire to become a painter had begun to develop in Lisa. Lisa attended Pacific Union College in Angwin, California and graduated from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska with a major in art. She studied water color under the world renowned avian artist Jim McClelland, Associate Professor at Union.
Mr. McClelland's work has been
sold at many invitation only exhibitions and his paintings of birds,
all maner of birds, have appeared in Smithsonian publications and
won him the Nebraska Wildlife Federation's Contest and a host of other
awards. Lisa was able to glean many skills from Mr. McClelland but
where her passion is now, however is in her oil paintings.
To say that her portfolio is prodigious is a modest statement. She has many hundreds of works of art, ranging from simple pencil and charcoal sketches to clay pottery to scratchboards, watercolors, oils, stained glass lamps, faux finishes, murals, photography, hand painted greeting cards, and quite simply, too much to list here.
What Lisa seeks to communicate to the public through the medium of her art is that the beauty of nature is crying out to us. Unless we take a moment to relish the gifts that God has bestowed on us: gifts like the simple beauty and elegance of flowers and animals and the depth of emotion in a childs face, these things will pass us unnoticed and for nothing. Lisa definitely sees these perspectives of the world around her as precious, as she is compelled to transfer them to canvas; a form more permanent and suitable for hanging.
Lisa's work can be seen in homes throughout Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Kure Beach, Carolina Beach and other North Carolina cities. Her murals also adorn the walls of Logan's Restaurant (Wrightsville Beach) and Fish Tales gift shop (Kure Beach). Lisa is extremely sought after for mural work as it has very much come back into style. She is ready and willing to be commissioned for more mural work, even though her true ambition lies in the realm of oil and canvas. This is where she truly shines.
